Karwaan 3.0

Vikalp introduced Karwaan two years back, in 2022, establishing it as a prominent festival recurring every even semester. This week-long celebration engages participants in a diverse array of activities spanning sports, both indoor and outdoor, as well as literary, cultural, and artistic pursuits.

Timed conveniently after the culmination of annual exams, Karwaan serves as an ideal opportunity for students to rejuvenate and unwind following a demanding examination period.

This year, Karwaan was celebrated in Vikalp at SMVDU from 22nd April to 28th April. This was preceded by a campaign on 21st April that covered around 75 houses in neighbouring areas.

Karwaan's Day 1

Karwaan’s Sports Day 1, held on April 22nd, placed emphasis on indoor games and singles sports. These activities offered a diverse and stimulating environment for children, fostering their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth in an enjoyable setting. Following the indoor games, children took part in various individual sports competitions. contributing to their personal development beyond the physical realm. 74 children graced the venue with their presence on this day.

Karwaan's Day 2

, held on 23rd April, was dedicated to group games, offering children an exciting opportunity to collaborate and compete as part of a team. . A total of 97 students participated in these group-oriented activities providing a dynamic and interactive environment for participants, promoting teamwork, communication, and camaraderie. 

Karwaan's Day 3

24th April, was dedicated to rehearsals and preparation for the upcoming dance, singing, and theatre performances. A total of 77 students immersed themselves in intense practice sessions, refining their skills and perfecting their acts for the ensuing days of the event.

Karwaan's Day 4

held on April 25th, A total of 80 students celebrated the vibrant world of art and craft, providing a platform for participants to showcase their creativity and craftsmanship. The day was filled with a variety of engaging art and craft events, ranging from painting and sculpture to pottery and origami.

Karwaan's Day 5

held on 26th April, immersed participants in a world of literary exploration and expression. This day was dedicated to a myriad of captivating literary events, ranging from poetry recitations and storytelling sessions to debates and writing competitions. Participants delved into the depths of language and imagination, showcasing their literary prowess and creativity.

Karwaan's Day 6

held on April 27th, was a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity and expression. This dynamic day was dedicated to a colorful array of cultural events, featuring mesmerizing performances of singing, dance, and poetry. Participants showcased the rich tapestry of traditions and art forms, captivating the audience with their talent and passion. From rhythmic dances that echoed ancient traditions to soul-stirring songs that resonated with emotion, each performance illuminated the stage with the spirit of cultural heritage. 

Karwaan's Day 7

held on April 28th, brought the festival to a grand finale with a spectacular display of group dances and a mime theatrical performance. The day featured energetic and synchronized group dance routines, masterfully executed by children who showcased their ability to perform complex choreographies together. The mime, involving both volunteers and children, captivated the audience with its powerful non-verbal storytelling, weaving drama and creativity into a silent narrative that spoke volumes. This culmination of Karwaan’s week-long celebration highlighted the teamwork and artistic dedication of the young participants and volunteers, providing a fitting close to a festival brimming with cultural and artistic exploration. A total of 93 children were present on the occasion.

The event was graced by distinguished chief guests including Prof. Dr. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU. Additionally, prominent figures such as Prof. Sudesh Kumar from the School of Computer Science, Prof. Purnima Hazra from the School of Electrical Engineering, and Prof. Pabitra Kumar Jena from the School of Economics were also in attendance to honor the occasion.
