“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
On October 2nd, 2024, Vikalp organized an event commemorating the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The event was held in two different classes, and the 77 students were divided accordingly so that every participant felt involved according to their aptitude levels. The aim of this event was to enlighten students about well-known figures of our nation and their contributions towards building it.
Kindergarten and primary school students were involved in more graphical activities, allowing their creative imaginations to be amplified by colours. The older students participated in quizzes and answered questions based on a paragraph about Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. This interactive quiz was designed to enhance their reading and aptitude levels while also increasing their awareness of the efforts of freedom fighters and instilling a sense of responsibility towards the nation.
The second half of the event involved a PowerPoint-based discussion about these notable figures. This discussion was more factual and focused on ideological concepts such as Satyagraha, Non-Violence, and Jai Jawan Jai Kisan. The images used made the event more memorable for everyone. The event concluded with volunteers distributing refreshments.
Overall, the event helped every student learn about the ideals and strong foundations established by our great forefathers, who not only fought against British rule but also contributed to the efforts of building the nation after independence.
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. Mahatma Gandhi believed in kindness, truth, and helping others, and through small acts of kindness, each one of you can make the world a better place.”
