Holi approaches, drenched in vibrant hues and infectious joy, Rabindranath Tagore’s words resonate: “Holi comes, colors come, and the spirit of spring is in the air” Capturing this very essence, Vikalp’s Holi celebration on March 24th, 2024, was a dazzling display of color, playful activities, and cultural exploration.

Event Details

Vikalp’s halls echoed with vibrant energy on March 24th, 2024, as they celebrated Holi, the festival of colors.  Volunteers and students wove a vibrant tapestry of tradition and merriment, leaving a lasting impression on all who participated.

The festivities commenced at 5:05 PM in room 111, C-block, buzzing with 45 eager children and enthusiastic volunteers. The event opened with a captivating storytelling session, where a volunteer brought the legend of Holika and Bhakt Prahlad to life. This classic tale, woven with themes of good versus evil, served as a perfect introduction to the spirit of Holi.

Student Activities

Following the story, the room transformed into a playful haven. Two engaging games, “Catch the Ball” and “Draw Your Prints,” energized the atmosphere. The laughter that erupted with each successful catch echoed through the room, creating a sense of camaraderie that transcended age groups. In “Draw Your Prints,” children dipped their hands in vibrant, safe colors and playfully stamped them onto sheets of paper, creating a unique and colorful masterpiece together.

By 5:35 PM, the games concluded, leaving behind a trail of happy exhaustion and colorful handprints. The vibrant crowd then spilled out onto the grounds for a unique twist on the traditional celebration – a water-free Holi! This innovative approach ensured everyone could participate and enjoy the spirit of the festival in a safe and inclusive way. Children playfully smeared dry, colored powder on each other, their laughter echoing in the air.
